Long-range read tags are perfect for marking carts, tagging high-value items with glass, plastics or metal, and for authentification applications. This is the black polycarbonate alternative to the WF-SM-77, which features a clear outer casing. The black polycarbonate case protects the ultra-high performance RFID inlay from environmental conditions. The inlay is especially well-suited for high dielectric materials such as glass, reusable plastic pallets or containers. This is a cost-effective metal-mount, harsh-environment RFID tag.


Versatile RFID Performance

The WF-SM-77B is available with a variety of inlays. The default Alien Higgs-3 chip is an award-winning RFID chip for high performance. We also manufacture the WF-SM-77B with UPM Raflatac or Avery Dennison inlays. The WF-SM-77B also has several attachment possibilities: magnet backing, mechanical and adhesives.  This versatile cost-effective RFID tag is a durable, reusable, impact-resistant asset tag.


Harsh Environment Ready

The durable polycarbonate casing will protect the RFID inlay up to 280ºF for short periods of time. Operating temperature range is - 40ºF to 158 ºF (-40 ºC to 70 ºC). The casing also protects the inlay from abrasion, impacts and tampering.

Test* Temperatures and Duration Results
Maximum Temperature Long-term at 10 hr: 230°F (110°C) No effect on tag. Tag remained the same in appearance and RFID performance/function. There was no sign of peeling, tearing or destruction. The tag read normal after the tests. *Test is not limiting.
Standard at 5 min: 260°F (127°C)
Short-term at 90 sec: 280°F (138°C)
Minimum Temperature -40°F (-40°C)
Temperature Cycling The tag was cycled to 280°F at equilibrium for five times. Between each cycle, it was air cooled to room temperature and read with an RFID reader.

Tag performance was experimentally measured in an anechoic chamber and a known set of experimental variables. The antenna used for measurements was linearly polarized and of monostatic configuration. The direction of tested polarization is as follows.

*Tag performance was measured free of material influence, on a dry wood, window glass, thermoplastic, and steel slabs. Actual read ranges may differ depending on conditions such as environment, tag placements, hardware, etc.
