William Frick & Company, a leading supplier of specialty identification products such as signs, labels and RFID tags, was selected as one of the top 65 businesses to work for in Illinois (one of only a handful of manufacturers) and ranked 25th among small businesses with 15-99 employees. The prestigious award honors Illinois companies that provide exceptional workplace environments thus benefiting the local economy, its workforce and businesses.

The Daily Herald, which has been sponsoring this statewide competition since 2006, conducted a two-part, in-depth analysis of nominated businesses. The first part assessed the employer’s workplace policies, practices and demographics. The second consisted of an employee survey measuring engagement and satisfaction. Companies that demonstrated the best business practices and executed the highest standards were selected.

“Everyone at Frick is excited to receive this recognition,” says Jeff Brandt, President of the Libertyville, IL based company. Founded in 1975, Frick now employs over 40 people. “We’re all dedicated to maintaining a friendly, professional, creative and high-performing company where everyone is appreciated and given opportunities to both achieve and grow. Additionally, I particularly love the professional and social diversity of people we employ; it truly adds to the company’s appeal and mystique.” “By acknowledging exceptional performance and workplace attitudes, setting high standards and expectations, and most importantly, treating everyone with dignity, we believe we bring out the best in people,” adds Evie Bennett, Vice-President.

In addition to employee compensation, insurance and retirement benefits, the company hosts Friday brunches, quarterly “Birthday Parties”, holiday grab bags, office decorating and bake-off contests, and impromptu potluck lunches throughout the year. “These are great ways to have fun, celebrate and stay connected. We’re a group of driven people that really like working together,” says Brandt.

William Frick & Company was recognized and honored at the Best Places to Work in Illinois awards ceremony coordinated by The Daily Herald Business Ledger on May 12 and will be profiled in a special publication by The Daily Herald on June 23.
