This heat and chemical-resistant metal mount RFID tag features a high-performance Alien® Higgs® 3 chip with a very good on-metal read range. Its durable IP68 ceramic housing can be immersed in water and is able to withstand pressures as high as 2500 psi. The metal mount RFID tag is RoHS and ATEX compliant.

 

Use this small metal mount RFID tag in many heavy industrial applications such as tracking paint lines, metal returnable containers, and vehicle engines. It can be attached to a variety of high-temperature items including those that require surgical sterilization or autoclaving. Also ideal for aerospace and military applications.

 

Attachment Methods

 

The metal mount RFID tag features two screw holes clad in aluminum for bolting securely onto metal assets. You can also attach it using adhesive (epoxy).

Test* Temperatures and Duration
Results
Maximum Temperature Long-term at 10 hr: 400°F (204°C) No effect on tag. Tag remained the same in appearance and RFID performance/function. There was no sign of peeling, tearing or destruction. The tag read normal after the tests. *Test is not limiting.  
Standard at 5 min: 450°F (232°C)
Short-term at 90 sec: 475°F (246°C)
Minimum Temperature -40°F (-40°C)
Temperature Cycling The tag was cycled to 475°F at equilibrium for five times. Between each cycle, it was air cooled to room temperature and read with an RFID reader.

Tested Polarization:

Tag performance was experimentally measured in an anechoic chamber and a known set of experimental variables. The antenna used for measurements was linearly polarized and of monostatic configuration. The direction of tested polarization is as follows.
