Electronic Art Checklist
To prevent any potential problems with your files please follow these guidelines. If you have a question that is not covered here, please feel free to contact our art staff.

Fonts - Please provide both the Screen (Bitmap) and Printer (Postscript) elements for each font used. If this is not possible, you can convert your type to paths. In Freehand, this command is “Convert to Paths”, in Adobe Illustrator use “Create Outlines” and in CorelDRAW it is “Convert to Curves.”

When applying a “Style” to type, do not use the “effects” or “measurement” palettes. Select the actual type style (i.e.- roman, bold, italic, oblique, extended, etc.) from the font menu. This will ensure that the font will output correctly.

Placed/Linked Graphics - Copy all graphics required for your file and place in the same folder or directory as the output file. Make sure the correct versions of all images are linked to their correct placements in the file.

Provide sized art in the correct rotated position. Sizing, cropping and rotating raster images in a page layout program (such as Quark) create unnecessarily large and complex files that take longer to process. Instead, please do all your final rotating and sizing in a program like Photoshop, then place the final image into the page layout program.

Colors - Make spot color names consistent, especially if more than one application is used to create the artwork.

For halftones, please provide the original Photoshop image. Screen frequencies vary on printing method, and different stocks. Call for specifics.

When colors touch, we may need to create traps. Your artwork needs to be prepared so the colors are in editable format. If not, additional charges may be incurred.

General Cleanup - Eliminate all unnecessary elements in your file including extraneous colors, patterns, and other elements that may be invisible or behind other elements or layers.
