William Frick & Co. Honored by NorthPointe Resources for Providing Jobs for Workers With Disabilities
In appreciation of the work it provides for people with disabilities, William Frick & Company—a leading producer of custom identification products like labels, tags and utility markers—was honored by NorthPointe Resources—a private, not-for-profit provider of developmental disability and behavioral health services.

National Disability Awareness Month evolved from the National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week, started by Congress in 1945 to acknowledge the contributions that people with disabilities make to America’s workplaces and economy.

The need to provide training and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities is significant because this segment of the population is more likely to be unemployed than people without a disability. The Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2009 said that 19.2 percent of the employed population in the U.S. is disabled. According to the 2009 figures from the Annual Disability Statistics Compendium, 64 percent of the disabled population in Illinois is unemployed.
In Lake County, Ill., there are more than 10,000 people classified as disabled, or 6.7 percent of the county’s population.
